There's no denial that almost everyone of us loves Taiwanese desserts and seeing all different kinds of Taiwanese desserts outlet growing like mushroom in our place a definite love for us! Being a big fan of Taiwanese dessert myself, it is so glad to know Blackball will be one of my favorite places to get my dessert fix at anytime I wish. There's a thought of why is it named Blackball and little did I know that it was driven by the idea of "Xian Cao" being "black" in color and taro "balls" and I believe everyone of have seen the first branch of Blackball at SS15, Subang Jaya.
Blackball @ Sri Petaling |
Entrance |
Last month, I was by chance invited for a visit at their Sri Petaling branch. It was such a hot sunny day and am a lil bit not in the mood for it's so difficult to get a parking at that area and we just gave up and decided to just do the double park instead. Nevertheless, am so glad that and truly can't wait to try on those cooling and refreshing dessert for sure.

We were given an opportunity to witness how they prepare all sorts of desserts at time. Just so you know that the tea that were served at Blackball are freshly brewed on site everyday and they will change to the new high quality leaves for every four hours which definitely guaranteed freshest and finest tea for their customers. Their main ingredients for the desserts and drinks is the "Xian Cao" which imported directly from Guan Xi and there's no way you could get the heavenly taste of it in other dessert chains.
Blackball Signature (Cold) - RM 6.50 |
Blackball Signature (Hot) - RM 6.50 |
The Blackball Signature is served in two different ways to suit the customer best in either cold or hot. As for me, I would definitely prefer cold one especially during the hot day! Not just that, I could have more choices of toppings with cold one that going to compliment it. The bowl of cold one served with combination of grass jelly ice, topped with a tiny layer of grass jelly and several toppings such as red bean, taro q, taro balls and red beans. While on the other hand, the hot version of it will comes with taro q, taro balls and grass jelly.
Blackball Winter Melon Ice - RM 6.90 |
All of us had the chance to try on their new dessert series - Blackball Winter Melon Ice - I am never a fan of winter melon dessert or drinks and this truly fascinated me with the aromatic and fragrance winter melon that for once made me fell in love with it. It's surprisingly goes well with various toppings.
Red Bean Ice Combo - RM 6.50 |
I found it something great to see there's red bean ice based for the dessert here as I only left no choice but opt for grass jelly ice base for I could not take the soy ice series. The Red Bean Ice Combo served with the perfect combination of red bean ice base with various toppings of pearls, taro balls, barleys and lotus seeds.
Jiu Fen Taro Ball Crushed Ice - RM 6.50 |
The taro was originated from Jiu Fen and we get to taste the authentic ones at Blackball! I could not say more on how I love the chewiness that I enjoyed while having all these desserts. Just so you know that the crushed ice were prepared 3 days in advanced and by 3 days, it was cold and solid enough to prepare icy-licious crushed ice for the customers. You may surprise to see how fast the ice melted and turned watery but think of it, it just made of water itself and it is healthier in that way I supposed.
Cranberry Crushed Ice with Milk - RM 6.50 |
The Cranberry Crushed Ice probably my most favorite dessert at Blackball. It contains the sweetness and mild sourish taste that tantalized my taste buds and yes, the both Audrey and I love it much! Even though it was just accompanied with the nata de coco, red beans and pearls, it just tasted so great!
Red Bean Crushed Ice with Milk - RM 6.50 |
For those who fancy various toppings on your desserts, you shall go for the Blackball Combo whereby you could choose your favorite combo base - grass jelly series / Blackball crushed ice / Red Bean ice - and may feel free to choose which ever toppings you would love to go with your combo base.
Left to right : 3Q Passion Fruit Green Tea - Winter Melon Tea with Jade Jelly - Fresh Milk with Grass Jelly - Cranberry Lemon Juice - Signature Boba Milk Tea - Signature Xian Cao Tea with Grass Jelly ( RM 5.90 ) |
Well, if you do not feel like taking any dessert as mentioned above, why not go for the drinks? Don't you just love variety? I managed to try some of their Signature drinks and yes, truly refreshing and good to have at anytime you love to! As much as I would love to try the Fresh Milk with Grass Jelly, I just had to refused for my lactose intolerant. I've regretted it as everyone been complimenting how great it is, but I was glad that I could taste the both Signature Boba Milk Tea and Signature Xian Cao Tea with Grass Jelly. The both drinks are taste awesome and I really love how soothing it is.
