Being sickish me now, I definitely prefer to have soupy and warmish foods for my meals. Porridge is always good to have during this time, however I would be happy to have bak kut teh perhaps? At least, it taste nicer and flavorful compare to the porridge. Alright, I am just being silly as everything is tasteless to me now. Talking about bak kut teh does make me recall the day we had bak kut teh for lunch. It was really odd to me to have bak kut teh for lunch as I normally have it for the dinner.

Bak Kut Teh ( RM 10 ) |
You could find few types of bak kut teh at Fang Xiang Bak Kut Teh, the normal Bak Kut Teh, Dry Bak Kut Teh and also Claypot Bak Kut Teh. The claypot bak kut teh, consist of meaty pork ribs simmered in a complex broth of herbs and spices for hours served piping hot in a claypot. It also accompanied by pieces of dried tofu, choy sum as well as fried tofu puffs. I always love to throw in few pieces of cut Chinese crullers into the soup and totally enjoy the herbs taste on it. What so special with the claypot bak kut teh? It comes with a mini stove light up small fire that could ensure you to enjoy piping hot BKT for the entire meal. If you ask me, I would say the normal bak kut teh has stronger and more concentrated flavor on taste compare to the claypot bak kut teh. While I enjoyed much with the bak kut teh, some of them prefer to have the dry bak kut teh instead. The dry bak kut teh tasted slightly spicy with the dark soy sauce, dried chillies, onions, garlic, herbs and more into the bowl.

Apart of the BKT dishes, there's also a selection of dishes served at Fang Xiang BKT that allow you to have more choices of dish to have. The Vinegar Pork Trotter could be the second after the fragrant BKT dishes for its tender and succulent texture after the slow cooking, needless to mentioned the tasty sweet vinegar taste of this dish too!
Assam Fish ( RM 12 ) |
I'd never expect to see fish dish in the menu and this was surprisingly good. The Assam Fish tasted so good with a lil bit of sourish taste, coupled with lady fingers and topped with some chilies, this is going to be the favorite dish for those who love spicy foods. I must say this is quite appetizing too!
Yao Mak Lettice ( RM 6.90 ) |
A plate of simple green dish would be a great choice while enjoy the BKT too! I always love lettuce that cooked in such simple way with just the soy sauce and coupled with some shallots.
Soy Sauce Tofu |
Thai Sauce Tofu |
We were served with two types of tofu dish - Soy Sauce Tofu and Thai Sauce Tofu. Soy Sauce Tofu looks more appealing to me, perhaps I just used to have it most of the time while it seems a lil bit weird for me to have Thai Sauce Tofu. The tofu were fried and topped with generous amount of Thai Sauce as well as the sliced cucumbers. It tasted rather unique to my taste bud, not bad.
Hog Maw Soup ( Pig Stomach Soup ) |
The Hog Maw Soup ( Pig's Stomach Soup ) served in a bowl of very peppery broth, surprisingly tasted so great and do not be surprised with how peppery it can be! A sip of this soup teared me off, but still, it doesn't stop me from sipping it over and over again especially with the hot steamed rice. It was such a heart-warming meal to had with the bunch of them. And, I do not mind to return for another visit, for breakfast perhaps? :D
