Being a Sabahan myself, I have a few Indonesian friends back in KK and enjoyed quite a number of Balinese food back in KK with them. I'm not sure about you, but I really enjoy the Balinese cuisines at Bumbu Desa in KL. Bumbu Desa is one of Indonesia's largest chain restaurant that has been around in Malaysia for 5 years already. They also have been awarded the "Most Favorite Sundanese Restaurant" by Tourism Indonesia in 2010.
Recently, we had a chance to try out their Set Meal for 4 pax which is priced at RM160++ and comes with gado-gado, nasi putih (x4), sayur asem, talapia gulai, rendang daging, ayam bakar, ayam cabai ijo, tempe medoan, terung sambal, iced lemon tea (x4) and mixed fruits.
For appetisers, you can enjoy traditional Balinese's version of salad - gado-gado and also sayur asem soup. Gado-gado is a mixture of vegetables with peanut dressings; if you fancy sourish soup, you would enjoy having the Sayur Asem in your meal too!
They are mostly quite spicy, especially the Ayam Cabai Ijo (steamed chicken with green chili). It's very spicy yet delicious. Not to forget the Talapia Gulai, it's fragrant and adding your steamed rice with the gravy, it's so yummy! The Ayam Bakar (grilled chicken) was so tender and it was served with special sauce. And oh, this set meal also comes with mixed fruits as dessert!
Apart of that, you can also order from the ala carte menu. For drinks, we ordered another two types of drinks - Coconut Orange Juice and Es Buah. Super refreshing and tasty!
We also ordered the prawns and deep fried talapia fish from the ala carte menu. The prawns were succulent and delicious; whilst the deep fried talapia fish was super good too! I actually wondered how they fried the fish and maintaining the shape of the fish that way!
We also then ordered this sinfulicious dessert - Pisang Sos Caramel - boy was it good! Bananas drizzeled with sweet caramel syrup and topped with 2 scoops of vanilla ice creams! Super yummy!
